FamilyLine Global Internship Programme – October 2025

A 21-Day Vocational Learning and Cultural Exchange Experience

On October 2025, FamilyLine Incorporated LBG hosted interns from the Wilhelm-Emmanuel-von-Ketteler Berufskolleg, Münster, Germany, as part of a three-week vocational internship and international exchange programme.

The 21-day programme provided the participating interns with an opportunity to gain practical workplace experience in Carpentry, Automotive Mechanics, and Gardening and Landscaping. The programme was designed to complement their vocational education with hands-on learning in a different cultural and professional environment.

Throughout the internship, the students worked alongside experienced mentors and practitioners, developing practical competencies while exchanging knowledge, ideas, and experiences. Their engagement in real-world activities enabled them to connect classroom-based vocational knowledge with practical applications and workplace practices.

Practical Learning and Skills Development

The Carpentry component provided opportunities for the interns to work with tools, materials, measurements, construction techniques, and practical woodworking projects. Through direct participation, they strengthened their understanding of craftsmanship, precision, teamwork, and workplace safety.

In Automotive Mechanics, the interns were introduced to practical aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair. Their participation exposed them to diagnostic procedures, mechanical systems, tools, and workshop practices, providing valuable insight into the realities of the automotive profession.

The Gardening and Landscaping component offered a different dimension of vocational learning. Working directly with soil, plants, outdoor spaces, and landscaping activities, the interns gained practical experience while developing an appreciation for environmental stewardship, patience, teamwork, and sustainable practices.

Beyond Vocational Training

The internship was not limited to technical and vocational skills. It also served as a platform for intercultural learning, personal development, collaboration, and friendship.

Living and working in a different cultural environment encouraged the interns to develop adaptability, independence, communication skills, and a broader understanding of international cooperation. Their interactions with mentors, colleagues, host communities, and other participants created opportunities for meaningful cultural exchange and mutual learning.

The programme demonstrated that international vocational exchange can be a powerful tool for preparing young people for the world of work while promoting understanding and cooperation across cultures.

A Lasting Impact

At the conclusion of the 21-day programme, the interns returned to Germany with new practical competencies, professional experiences, cultural insights, and memories that extended beyond the workplace.

Their active participation also left a positive impression on the people and organisations with whom they interacted during their stay. The programme therefore became more than a vocational internship; it was a shared learning journey that connected education, skills development, culture, friendship, and international partnership.

FamilyLine Incorporated LBG is grateful to the Wilhelm-Emmanuel-von-Ketteler Berufskolleg, the mentors, vocational practitioners, host organisations, partners, families, and all individuals who contributed to the successful implementation of the programme.

We particularly appreciate the trust placed in FamilyLine to facilitate this international learning experience and remain committed to creating opportunities that equip young people, nurture talents, promote practical skills, and build bridges between communities and countries.

Thank You.
